No regret after choosing Chelsea over Liverpool - Werner

The German star at Chelsea could not have a brilliant performance but he is happy with his choice.

Chelsea

star

Timo Werner

has claimed before the crucial FA Cup final against

Liverpool

that he has no regrets about choosing the club instead of the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp said that he was an admirer of Werner in 2015, when he played for Stuttgart and the German coach led

Borussia Dortmund

. After he moved to Liverpool, Klopp tried hard to sign Werner, but the German star finally decided to leave Red Bull Leipzig for Chelsea in 2020. Werner did not perform well in his first season in the Premier League, scoring only 6 goals in 35 games, and this season he could not improve his statistics and in 21 games he scored only 4 goals, but in recent months he has performed better and was able to become an important players of Tuchel's side. Now, before the confrontation with Liverpool, the German star expressed his satisfaction with his choice in 2020.

Asked about his links to Liverpool, he replied:

"The only thing I can say is they have a German manager. I have known him for many years before, because when I was in Stuttgart, he talked about going to Dortmund. Then I played not so well, so it was done.

"When I was in Leipzig, I had the possibility to come to the Premier League. Liverpool were also in my thoughts and were a big possibility for me, but at the end I decided for Chelsea and I won the Champions League title last year. It was not the worst decision."

Werner praised Klopp and said:

"He is one of the best coaches we had in Germany.

"Not to attack our manager, but over the past years he won the most titles. He has a very nice personality – a personality that the German people love, because he seems like fun.

"The Germans love the types like Thomas Muller, Jurgen Klopp — they have empathy. They say what they think, and that is really important in this business, to not fake something.

"He's real. He is a funny guy and also, with his power on the sideline, he tries to bring the people with him. That's what we Germans like."
