Henry: "All European clubs fear Real Madrid and Madrid fear Barcelona"

Thierry Henry has commented about Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The French talisman, who had a successful late-career run with

Barcelona

after departing Arsenal, was talking on CBS Sports, carried out by

Marca

Henry was speaking before Real Madrid's

Champions League

final versus Liverpool, which will take place in Paris at the end of May. Los Blancos have advanced to the final after defeating Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

“All European clubs fear Real Madrid and Real Madrid fear Barcelona,” Henry said. “But I think Liverpool will win the Champions League. They’re stronger than Madrid.”

Henry, on the other hand, backed his countrymen

Karim Benzema

to win the Ballon d'Or over Sadio Mane of Liverpool, who has been connected with Barcelona

this morning

“I still believe that Benzema is ahead, but if Mane wins with Liverpool and they do the quadruple, he’s a pretty strong opponent,” Henry said. Mane, of course, led the Senegalese national team to the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.

“It would be great for Africa but I’m still betting on Benzema.”

And Henry is no stranger to world-class strikers.

The now 44-year-old scored 51 goals in 123 matches for France and had a brilliant club career that included stints with Monaco, Juventus, and the New York Red Bulls, as well as Arsenal and Barcelona. In his club career, he tallied 360 goals.
