England’s ‘It’s Coming Home’ anthem will not be banned at World Cup

Since Euro 96, England fans have chanted "Three Lions" in competitions, and the FA has no plans to replace it as their anthem.

The Football Association has disputed that England’s ‘It’s Coming Home’ anthem will not be banned at the

Qatar 2022

World Cup.

The Sun

reported on Thursday that the FA is considering alternate possibilities because of fears that the song, which has been a fan favorite since Euro 96, offends other countries.

Luka Modric

stated after Croatia's triumph against

England

in the 2018 World Cup semi-final that the words of the song pushed his team to win. It was thought that 'Sweet Caroline,' which became synonymous with England's run to the Euro 2020 final last year, might take its place.

The FA, on the other hand, has issued a statement refuting this. The statement stated, "Contrary to claims this morning, the FA still plays Three Lions at important Wembley fixtures and has never had any intention of doing otherwise."

"The song is about the hope of following the England squad and belongs to the fans. The FA requested that it be performed as one of our team songs at the 2018 World Cup and the Euros last summer, and we want to do so at future events."
