Rangnick promises United will fight till the end

The Red Devils may not be involved in the European football in the 2022-23 season, which will make the arriving manager’s job a little easier.

Ralf Rangnick

admitted that

Manchester United

may not play in the European football next season. This will make Erik ten Hag’s task in hand a lot easier but Rangnick promised the team will do their best in the last four matches.

United will lock horns with

Chelsea

on Thursday and their hope for a Champions League spot down, as they sit six points adrift of Arsenal in the fourth place, with the Gunners having one game in hand.

Rangnick’s side are only two points above West Ham. Although Ten Hag will have more time to implement his style with no continental club football, Rangnick thinks United are keen on winning their last four matches.

"It could be an advantage, but that does not mean we will give away any of the remaining four games,"

Rangnick told a news conference on Wednesday.

"For us, it's clear and our obligation. This is our job, my job, the job of the players that we try to get the best possible results and then see at the end of the season in which position we will finish.

"Now to speak about if that would be an advantage or not does not make sense because if I did that then this would be interpreted again.

"For me, it's important we get results, that we play as good as we possibly can, because this will also affect the atmosphere and mood for the new season."

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick helped United go past Norwich City in their last game. However, the players’ commitment was questioned.

Although they were defeated against Liverpool and Arsenal, their 3-2 victory over Norwich restored fans’ faith in them and Rangnick is sure the supporters will back their teams for the upcoming clash.

"I think in both away games the fans have still been supporting the team and also against Norwich,"

said Rangnick.

"There was that one issue with Paul Pogba, but apart from that I think the supporters were great also in the game against Norwich.

"I hope and also expect our supporters to be behind the team and supporting the team [against Chelsea]."
