Dembele's contract extension a top priority for Barcelona

The French star recorded an outstanding performance in the middle of the season that persuaded the club to extend his contract.

Sky Sports claims that

Barcelona

intend to enter into negotiations with

Ousmane Dembele

to extend his contract.

Barcelona officials plan to meet with Dembele and try to reach an agreement with him to extend his contract. Barcelona coach Xavi and club president Joan Laporta believe that extending Dembele's contract is now a priority for the club.

In fact, Dembele's outstanding performance has made Barcelona officials feel obliged to keep him. The French star currently has the best assists per game in the top 5 European leagues. He has 11 assists in La Liga, 0.69 per game, ahead of

Lionel Messi

, Trent Alexander Arnold and Thomas Müller.

He had previously turned down an offer to stay and was on the bench for a while, but with Xavi's presence, things changed and he returned to the club squad and performed very well. Dembele is happy with the game under Xavi and wants to listen to Barca's offer to extend it. However, he intends to wait until the end of the season to receive the rest of the offers and then decide on his future.
