Nagelsmann slams Freiburg for appeal over Bayern's substitute mix-up

Julian Nagelsmann has no grudge against Freiburg after the latter's unsuccessful plea to reverse their loss to Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich

coach

Julian Nagelsmann

is "pleased" that the Bundesliga leaders' victory over Freiburg will not be revoked due to a 12-man mix-up. Despite Nagelsmann's multiple substitutions, the German top-flight winners fielded an extra player during Saturday's 4-1 league triumph. Kingsley Coman stayed on.

Freiburg reluctantly requested that their opponent surrender the match to the German Football Association (DFB), though Nagelsmann may have been more focused with a surprising midweek setback.

Bayern fell in the first leg of their

Champions League

quarter-final against

Villarreal

, losing 1-0, but the Bavarian giants were given a good judgment on the DFB's ruling on Friday. The league has chosen to keep Freiburg's initial result, and the former RB Leipzig boss voiced his delight at the points being kept before Saturday's match against Augsburg.

He told reporters, at a pre-match news conference, "I'm delighted we kept the points." "I believe that is perfectly natural. "What matters to me is that Freiburg has not disappointed me. That hasn't altered as a result of the contest."

Bayern Munich leads by nine points heading into their match at

Allianz Arena

, although they may be more focused on their European return leg against Unai Emery's Villarreal. Nagelsmann, on the other hand, thinks both games are critical for him and that he plans to change his lineup to help his team develop a rhythm over two crucial games.

He remarked, "On Tuesday, we have a very crucial game, possibly the season's most important game." "However, in the Bundesliga, we must also provide them with some rhythm. We'll most likely rotate a couple of spots." We'll let Niklas Sule start right away, and let [Leon Goretzka] start right away.

"We'll give

Alphonso Davies

a break and a few [of other] guys a bit more rhythm for Tuesday." "We're taking tomorrow's game very seriously, and we're determined and desperate to win." Evergreen playmaker Thomas Muller is scheduled to play against Augsburg, and the World Cup champion is anticipated to start. If he does, and Bayern wins, the 32-year-old would become the first outfield player in Bundesliga history to reach 300 victories.
