Allegri: First Serie A title with Milan is the one I remember the most

Although he won the majority of his trophies at Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri remembers his victories at Sassuolo and Milan the most.

Massimiliano Allegri

cherishes his first-team victories with Sassuolo and

Milan

more than his victories with

Juventus

. In 2007-08, Allegri made history by leading

Sassuolo

to the Serie C title and promotion to the second flight for the first time. Cagliari snatched him and he took over at Milan for the 2010-11 season, leading them to their first

Scudetto

in seven years.

Before joining Juve in 2014, Allegri only added the Supercoppa Italiana. He led the Bianconeri to five consecutive Serie A titles, four of which were domestic doubles thanks to Coppa Italia triumphs, and two Champions League finals, both of which were lost. Despite his outstanding record during his first stay at Juventus, he remembers his victories from the early phases of his career more vividly.

"I can't decide between the titles because they're all so lovely. The

Serie C

triumph with Sassuolo and the first Serie A title with Milan are the ones I remember the most "Allegri stated. "On the other hand, defeats are all bad - some worse than others because you still have the question of whether you could have done anything better."

Following Allegri's return to the leadership, Juve have had a poor start to the season and are currently eight points behind leaders Milan with seven games remaining. Allegri has been chastised for his unwillingness to try out young players, a sentiment many believe is widespread in Italy and a major cause of the country's failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

The 54-year-old revealed why he might appear hesitant to trust kids. "In Italy, there has been a trend for a few years to designate young players champions after two or three games," he remarked. "However, that puts them ahead of schedule – a footballer cannot have the maturity of a 28-year-old at the age of 20."
