Newcastle's offer for French striker accepted

Newcastle continue to make winter transfer deals.

Magpies' initial offer was € 30 million, which was later accepted by the French club after being increased to € 40 million. The French Under-20 striker has also been linked with a move to West Ham, but Newcastle have begun negotiations and are now hiring a second striker for the winter transfer window after signing Chris Wood from Burnley.

Ekitike made his debut for Reims in August, scoring eight goals in 18 league games and three assists.

Newcastle are also close to signing Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa. Eddie Howe intends to use him for left-back and strengthen his team's defense. Targett currently has no place in Steven Gerrard's squad and is on the bench. The two clubs have agreed a loan transfer until the summer.
