Barcelona’s Umtiti to undergo surgery on a fractured metatarsal
The Blaugrana have extended Samuel Umtiti’s deal, but they will be without his services for a long time.

’s fifth metatarsal in his right foot has been fractured, which came a week after penning an extension with
Barcelona, the club pronounced on Monday.
Umtiti seemed to be going out the exit door at Camp Nou this month but he extended his stay until 2026.
The World Cup winner, whose last deal was due to expire in 2023, attracted the attention of many clubs, including
Newcastle United.
Barca, however, convinced him to put pen to paper for another deal with a temporary pay decrease that allowed Ferran Torres to be registered.
Whether he was supposed to have his involvement increased remains to be seen. The France international is dealing with a serious injury that will need surgery.

The first team player Samuel Umtiti took a blow to his right foot in training on Monday and has fractured his fifth metatarsal bone,"
a club statement read.
"The player will undergo surgery on Tuesday with doctor Antoni Dalmau and with the club's medical services supervising. Another press release will be issued when the surgery has taken place."
