Ghana, and it has been announced that he is recovering from coronavirus, but sources have revealed that he is facing another problem.
Scanings were performed by the CAF and two Gabonese players, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina, were removed from the squad for similar reasons.
According to the Gabonese Football Association, the coronavirus test taken from the players was positive, and as a result, these three players have been removed from the Gabonese list. The statement reads:
"According to the CAF medical commission, the players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina, who just returned from Covid, cannot take part in this match.
"The examinations showed cardiac lesions. CAF did not want to take any risks."
However, sources told Goal that Aubameyang underwent a cardiac test and appeared to have a heart problem. More tests are scheduled on the Arsenal striker to determine his exact health.
This could lead to the former Dortmund star missing out on AFCON competition.
