Pjanic cautions de Ligt & Morata over potential Barca move

Former Juventus star Miralem Pjanic says Alvaro Morata and Matthijs de Ligt should reconsider leaving the club, but feels that 'players sometimes need fresh motivations.'

Pjanic departed Juventus in the summer of 2020 to join Barcelona in a swap exchange with Arthur Melo.

However, in his debut season at the Nou Camp under Ronald Koeman, he failed to have regular playing time and was loaned out to Besiktas last summer.

Morata and De Ligt, two of his former colleagues, might follow in his footsteps and come to Barcelona in the future.

Morata is in contact with the Catalans and wants to leave the Old Lady in January, assuming that the

Serie A

side would not extend his contract in June.

De Ligt has long been a goal for Barcelona, and his agent Mino Raiola recently stated that the Dutchman might be leaving the Allianz Stadium at the conclusion of the season.

What advice would Pjanic provide to his former teammates?

"Morata has had an amazing career so far. He played for big clubs like Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Sometimes players need motivation, but I would think twice before leaving a club where I feel well," the Bosnia international said.

"Morata knows what to do, Barcelona hired Xavi, a coach who knows the club really well, I don't know the details, but I've always heard that Morata was happy at Juventus even if when Barcelona call you always need to think about it.

"De Ligt has three years left in his contract with Juventus, he has the right commitment, but I don't know if Barcelona are interested," Pjanic continued.

"He made a great choice by deciding to join Juventus and work with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, he is happy at Juventus and when you are happy, it's better not to leave. We'll see if he will have the motivation to leave."
