Dzeko helps Inter in their tough UCL clash

Dzeko’s brace secured the victory for Inzaghi’s men against Shakhtar Donetsk.

On a night that

Shakhtar Donetsk

managed to keep the ball away from the goal for 60 minutes,

Edin Dzeko

saved

Inter

by scoring two goals, but he insists that he has been signed for this kind of performance.

“This is what Inter signed me for and I am trying to give my contribution,”

Dzeko told Sky Sport Italia

.

“We made a lot of mistakes in the first half and their goalkeeper did really well too. You need patience at this level, we kept a clean sheet and scored twice in the second half. Hopefully, this will be sufficient.”

Dzeko, who was named Man Of The Match, has also talked about the importance of their victory and said that

Inzaghi

had asked them at half-time that they were in the right place despite their failure in scoring goals.

“These are three fundamental points and now we are close to our objective. The first half it seemed as if the goal was cursed, the ball just didn’t want to go in, we had two goals disallowed… Fortunately we got there in the end.

“The coach told us at half-time to just continue like this.”

Now Inter is in the Champions League round of 16, and now we have to wait and see if they can get even further.
