The Giallorossi boss was the former striker’s coach at Chelsea in 2006-07, but they did not have a good relationship back then.
Shevchenko made a move to Mourinho’s Blues from Milan but had a hard time settling in at Stamford Bridge, meeting the back of the net only four times in 30 matches in his first season with them.
After two years, the Ukraine legend admitted that he blamed the Special One for his bad Chelsea performances in the Premier League.
However, the duo share a good relationship now, having mutual respect between them.
“
Mourinho is a friend and a person I respect. We play in front of our fans who always support the team,”

“I am trying to be serene. I have many things in my mind. I make my debut against an important team and an important coach.
“The lads are motivated. They want to turn things around, this is a good starting point. We are getting there slowly. We are trying to be as competitive as possible.”
