Fiorentina boss happy happy with his squad's performance in Genoa

Vincenzo Italiano was pleased with Fiorentina's "attitude" in their 2-1 victory against Genoa. 'We have to keep going in this direction.'

The Viola haven't had a better start to a

Serie A

season since 2005-06 when they placed fifth after collecting nine points in the first four fixtures.

Riccardo Saponara

, who came off the seat to score a goal and assist

Giacomo Bonaventura

, was an inspirational switch against Genoa.

"It's not easy to win here, we managed to do it with an excellent performance," Italiano told DAZN.

"I liked the attitude from the lads, although we were at first surprised by the way Genoa were set out with a four-man defence, we readjusted.

"It was the first of three tough games this week and important to pick up points."

In the midweek round, they will face Scudetto winners Inter on Tuesday.

With swift passing, entertainment, and lots of opportunities, this Fiorentina is a far cry from the one saw last season under both

Beppe Iachini

and

Cesare Prandelli

.

"We work to have more scoring opportunities than the opposition, and are happy to be keeping the chances at the other end relatively few and far between.

"We must continue like this, as we cannot lose the focus and dedication we've had so far. I am happy for Ricky, as he's been going close to a goal for a few games now."
