Sao Paulo confirmed Dani Alves separation

The Brazilian star was forced to leave his beloved team due to financial problems.

Sao Paulo

have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with defender Danny Alves to terminate his contract.

The veteran Brazilian player, who returned to his country in 2019 after a decade and a half of brilliant presence in Europe, is no longer considered a Sao Paulo player. The player had a number of clashes with the club during this time, which intensified after the right-back's gold medal with Brazil's national team at the Olympics last month.

The dispute between the two sides was over the amount of his image rights, which the club could not afford. It is said that this figure was around 2.3 million euros, which is equivalent to 10 months of his salary. After the club realized they could not afford it, Alves announced that he would leave Sao Paulo.

The club's statement reads:

"Sao Paulo Futebol Clube announces that an agreement was signed today for the termination of player Daniel Alves, who had a relationship with the club until December 2022."

Alves has been a fan of Sao Paulo since he was a child, and finally in 2019, his transfer to this team made his dream come true. The former Barca star was well received by Sao Paulo fans, and now his separation from the club in this way is certainly a bitter end.
