Germany secure their stay in Euro 2020 with a 2-2 draw against Hungary

Germany sealed their stay in Euro 2020 with a 2-2 draw with Hungary in their third fixture of Group F tonight.

Germany

have gained three points from their last two clashes, having lost to

France

1-0, but they bounced back with a thumping 4-2 victory over

Portugal

. Hungary, on the other hand, grabbed only one point as they were defeated 3-0 at the hands of Portugal and held to a goalless draw against France.

During the first half of the game, Hungary took the lead early doors with

Adam Szalai

 meeting the back of the net with a powerful header. Despite Germany having possession of the ball by 74 percent during the first half, they were not able to score an equalizer.

However, Germany have had the breakthrough in the 67th minute and pulled the game level with

Kai Havertz

’s equalizer. No more than a minute later, Hungary took the lead back when they scored their second goal thanks to

Andras Schafer

’s strike.

Germany pushed hard to stay in the tournament, as a loss would mean the end for them.

Leon Goretzka

scored his side’s second equalizer and secured their stay in Euro 2020 as they finished the group stage sitting second on the table.

Portugal and France have also locked horns tonight in their last game of Group F at Euro 2020, having shown the same result with a 2-2 draw in Budapest, which saw France sit top with 5 points.
