Traore ready to sign a new deal with Wolves

It seems Adama Traore is ready to extend his deal at Wolves.

Although

Wolves

winger

Adama Traore

was considering leaving the club when he lost his place in the side in the autumn, he is now in talks over a new contract with the club.

His current contract is going to expire in 2023, however, Wolves have the intention of tying down the 25-year-old to a long-term deal.

Earlier this season, Traore was in a different situation. He was behind Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence in the Wanderers’ pecking order after a dip in his form and wanted to leave the club but it seems starting 14 out of the last 15 games at Wolves has changed his mind.

Also, it seems there is going to be a gentleman’s agreement in his new deal which is not a formal release clause. This agreement states that if a big club make a certain bid, the player could move on and leave. This was also the case for N’Golo Kante who left Leicester for Chelsea over a similar arrangement in the summer of 2016.

Wolves sold Diogo Jota and Matt Doherty last summer and lost Raul Jimenez due to long-term injury and therefore it seems Traore’s desire to stay has been a huge boost to boss

Nuno Espirito Santo

as losing another key player would have put him in a more difficult situation after a difficult season mostly spent in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
