Klopp gives Jota injury update

The Portuguese forward won’t be able to play again for the Reds in their current campaign.

Diogo Jota

suffered a foot injury in

Liverpool

’s 4-2 win over

Manchester United

last week. The forward was replaced by

Sadio Mane

in the 74th minute and he is set to miss the remaining games of the season. Having scored 9 goals in 18 matches, Jota has spent a successful debut season at Anfield. However, he is now in a race against time to be fit for the Euros. In an interview after his side’s 2-1 win over

West Brom

,

Jurgen Klopp

spoke about Jota’s recovery.

He told reporters:

"Diogo, I don’t know actually.

"As I said, it is not too serious but as always, you have to wait [to see] how it develops, how it heals.

"It is a little bone in the foot and we have to see. I think he will now be in a boot for two weeks or so and when he gets out of the boot then the doctors will check how it developed, how far the progress is, so I don’t know that but of course, it is not a top moment."

Liverpool are in a tight race to secure a top-four finish. The Reds currently sit fifth in Premier League with 63 points from their 36 matches.

Ozan Kabak

was also injured in Liverpool’s thrilling clash against West Brom, but Klopp says he will be available for their upcoming matches.

"Ozan, no. No for the long-term [injuries].

"Ozan isn’t in the long-term [injuries] but nobody is coming back, I think."

Liverpool will face

Burnley

in their next Premier League match on Wednesday.
