Laporte will receive Spanish citizenship as he joins them

Manchester City defender is joining Spain national team as he faces problems with French boss.

Manchester City’s

Aymeric Laporte

will play for Spain's national team, according to the reports, after not getting a chance to play for France's national team under

Didier Deschamps

.

The high-profile defender has played for France’s youth levels, but he never got a chance to show his qualities on the senior team.

When FIFA’s final answer to Spanish Football Federation arrives, the 26-year-old defender can play for Spain national team if the answer is a yes.

He has shown his interest in playing for France, but he never got the chance, so he was forced to use his Spanish side of the family and join them.

“I spoke with [France coach] Didier Deschamps about coming back for Les Bleus, I am trying to show that I have the qualities to make the French national team,”

he told Telefoot in 2020

.

"Certainly, making the Euros at the end of this [season] would be the best thing.”

Laporte accused the France coach of leaving him aside from his squad because of personal issues in 2018, but the coach refused any personal problems with the defender.

"I do not have a problem with anyone. When I choose someone it is not for me. I repeat.”

Deschamps told

RMC Sport

in 2018

.

"I only have one thing to say to him and that is that he continues to perform well."
