Former Inter goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has his say on Samir Handanovic and said Nicolo Barella has every thing it takes to be Inter’s next captain.

In an interview with

La Gazzetta dello Sport

, The former goalkeeper was asked about

Samir Handanovic

’s performance throughout this season.

“It was a bit fluctuating,”

he said.

“A quiet start, a high-level central phase and several mistakes towards the end.

“Fortunately, they didn’t cost much. It happens to everyone, some more and some less. He still remains a goalkeeper of the highest level.”

Despite all ups and downs. the former shot-stopper insists that Handanovic should remain at San Siro for another season.

“I think Handanovic should be Inter’s goalkeeper again next year, but then we’ll have to look around,” he continued. “I hope Inter will decide on an Italian goalkeeper.

“There are many good ones who deserve important stages.”

Handanovic is currently holding Inter’s captaincy armband and Pagliuca believes Nicolo Barella has what it takes to take over the armband in the future.

“It could be Barella,”

Pagliuca said.

“I picture him for many years with the Inter shirt.”
