Fonseca has not lost hope after Roma’s draw

Roma’s draw against Sassuolo has not taken Fonseca’s hope away.

After

Roma’s

draw against Sassuolo, the Giallorossi head coach has talked about their situation, saying that it wasn’t their last chance and they can still fight to find themselves in fourth place in the Serie A table.

“Let’s continue to believe,”

Fonseca

told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now, let’s think about the Europa League match.

“But we will continue to believe in fourth place.”

Roma sits seventh in the Serie A table, four points away from Napoli, who stands in fourth place, and according to Fonseca, they still have a chance to find their place in the Champions League.

They have shown different standards in the recent weeks, with two victories, two defeats, and a draw in their most recent clash. Their two victories were against Shakhtar Donetsk, and they haven’t won any of their last three Serie A games.

They will face Ajax in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday, which can be a tough clash for them considering their form, but Fonseca insists that their draw against Sassuolo cannot affect their mentality against Ajax and that they should take games one by one and separately.

“Today, I didn’t make any calculations in view of Thursday,”

the coach continued.

“I didn’t think about Ajax and I put the best possible line-up to play Sassuolo.”
