Rodgers: “To try to replace him is impossible, Vardy is irreplaceable”

is “irreplaceable” for

, but the manager is going to add some recruitments in the next window. Although they may look for a striker, the 48-year-old believes that there cannot be another like the England international.

The 34-year-old’s pace, energy, and ending ability have made him a prolific striker for the Foxes.

Rodgers said: “

For me he is irreplaceable. You cannot find anyone there. It is so unique, his story, his qualities and what he has given to Leicester.

“For us, it's more about the actual profile of what we want. I'll always look to have speed at the top of the field, but are there other attributes that we would look for?

“But to try to replace him – it's impossible."

Vardy joined Leicester from Fleetwood Town in 2012 and worked hard to become a talismanic player. He met the target 24 times in the 2015-16 title-winning season, with a total tally of 144 goals till now.

The star striker is this season’s top scorer for Leicester as he met the back of the net 14 times; however, during his last 13 games, he has only managed to score one.

Rodgers added:

“(He is) an incredible servant for the club, and still has a big contribution to make over this season and the next couple of seasons.

“For the number of games we play, and the demands that is put on players...he is not going to be able to play to that rhythm and style every game.

“Our idea in the summer will be to strengthen the squad again.”

The England international will run out of contract in the summer of 2023.
