Thurgate signs a new two-year deal with Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets confirmed Angus Thurgate has extended his current contract with the club which will keep him with the Jets until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Thurgate

is a product of the Port Macquarie and joined the Jets’ Academy when he was a teenager.

He has played for the club in the NPL Northern NSW competition as well as the National Youth League, before making the step up to the A-League, making his debut in 2018.

Thurgate said

; “It’s a great to sign another contract with Newcastle.

“Everyone at the Club and the supporters have been really good to me, so it’s good to get another two years in Newcastle.

“I can’t wait to get going again, keep playing well and take my game to the next level.”

Jets Football Manager, Joel Griffiths is confident Thurgate will continue to develop.

“Angus has shown great loyalty with many clubs showing a lot of interest in securing his services,”

Griffiths said

.

“Angus has matured as a footballer but is yet to get anywhere near his ceiling. With so much room for growth, it’s exciting for us as a Club and him as a player.

“He has all the tools he needs to be a leading midfielder in this competition.”
