FA rejects Arsenal red card appeal for Luiz ahead of Aston Villa clash

The Gunners player is expected to miss their Saturday match following FA appeal rejection.

Arsenal

defender,

David Luiz

, will miss their Saturday clash with

Aston Villa

after the Football Association refused to overrule the player’s red card against

Wolves

.

Luiz, who was sent off the pitch following a clash with Wolves striker,

Willian Jose

, was accused of making an intentional move on Jose, but Arsenal refused to accept the accusations by submitting a case to the FA.

Still the Gunners were disappointed to see their appeal rejected as Luiz will be out of the pitch for their Villa match.

Expressing their frustration with the FA’s decision, Arsenal released a statement, which read:

“We have worked really hard to overturn David Luiz's red card. We presented our case to the FA but are disappointed that our appeal has been unsuccessful.”

“We accept the FA's decision and continue our preparations for Saturday's match against Aston Villa.”

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, who was hopeful of their appeal’s success, said earlier:

“I am very hopeful. That’s why we put the appeal in because we went through all the images and we think that the red card should be overruled.”
