Pochettino admits he needs time to build a strong PSG

Paris Saint-Germain has the chance to bounce back from their shocking 3-2 loss to Lorient today when they’ll face Nimes at home, and their newly-appointed manager insists his team is fully focused on their upcoming match.

Ahead of his side’s Wednesday’s clash against Nîmes at the Parc des Princes,

Mauricio

Pochettino

told a press conference:

“We are focused on tomorrow’s match, we need to bounce back and win the three points against Nîmes. We need to improve as a team more than in any one area of our game. We are always looking to improve.”

The Argentine went on to praise the depth of his squad, saying:

“It’s important to have many players available as possible to maintain competition for places. Despite Keylor Navas being unavailable for tomorrow, we have a team capable of competing in every competition and we are very happy with the quality of Sergio Rico. I am also very happy with the way the young players are working. They are very good footballers. It’s always hard to breakthrough in a club like Paris Saint-Germain, but I’m really impressed with how good they are.”

Concerning his side’s Sunday loss to

Lorient,

the former

Tottenham

manager said:

“I accept the responsibility. We dropped three points in two passages of play. We don’t have much time between matches as we are playing every three or four days. Verratti is a great player, but we could still have beaten Lorient without him. We have great players in this squad and we don’t need to look for excuses when certain players are unavailable.”

However, the manager went on to praise the spirit of his team: “

I am very happy with all my players. Our responsibility is to build a strong team. We need time to do that. We have played a lot of football in one month, but we haven’t had a lot of time to train. The objective is always to win. We want to win the Ligue 1 championship, that’s our priority and we still have time to do that.”
