Arriola joins Swansea City on loan from D.C. United
The U.S. international joined the Championship side on the final days of January transfer season.
Winger,
Paul Arriola, joined
Swansea Cityafter the latter agreed to sign the 25-year-old on a loan until the end of the season.
After joining Swansea, Arriola will be the second U.S. international to have joined the Championship side following
Jordan Morris’s arrival on January 22nd.
“We have spoken with Paul and we understand how exciting this step is for him in his professional career,”
D.C. United general manager, Dave Kasper, said.
“We wish Paul the best of luck and look forward to him rejoining our club.”
The two players are expected to make their first debut for the team in the upcoming month as Swansea sit only four points away from the top of table.
During his time with D.C. United, Arriola had scored 14 goals in 72 appearances and with his move to the one of Europe’s football leagues he will be among those American players, who have been marking the
"golden era"
for the U.S. national team by joining European teams.
Beside Arriola other players including
Chris Richards,
DeAndre Yedlin,
Bryan Reynolds, and
Daryl Dikehave also agreed on a move to European leagues.
