Muller: “I hope Jerome is on a little longer watch out for me”

The Germany international is expecting his team-mate to stay at Bayern Munich since his contract will expire in the summer.

Thomas Muller

is hoping

Jerome Boateng

will continue with

Bayern Munich

for the 32-year-old to “protect” him a “little longer” on the field.

Boateng’s contract is due to expire in six months after 10 years of playing at Allianz Arena. The centre-back is going to be a free agent; however, he is still a regular in

Hansi Flick

’s ploy.

The 32-year-old has featured in 21 games this season in all competitions and his most recent clash was the thumping 4-0 victory over

Schalke

.

Muller, who scored a brace in the victory at Vetlins-Arena, is hoping his fellow countryman will be offered a renewal.

The striker said: "

He's currently with us. He still has a contract until the summer. With a signature on the right paper, that would be done for the future as well. Jerome has been by my side for a long time and it doesn't hurt if he's on a little longer watch out for me."

Hasan Salihamidzic

, Bayern’s sporting director, commented on the roumors regarding Boateng’s future and stated that they will decide when the right time comes.

"

We all know that Jerome has a contract until June 30th, 2021 and we will talk to Jerome and his management at a reasonable time and make a fair decision for everyone

," he said.

The defender is still performing impressively notwithstanding his career reaching its latter stages and is prepared to add another trophy to his collection should Bayern continue down this course sitting top of the

Bundesliga

table.

Bayern Munich are set to face

Hoffenheim

on Saturday and will then lock horns with

Hertha Berlin

.
