Strootman back in Italy with Genoa

Kevin Strootman has returned to Serie A on a loan deal from Olympique Marseille to Genoa.

The former

Roma

midfielder has penned a loan contract with

Genoa

and he is happy about his return to Italy.

Kevin Strootman

arrived in Italy yesterday and will do the club medical tests today.

“I am very happy to be back in Italy. I enjoyed my five years here, I went to France, but I jumped at this opportunity,”

Strootman told Sky Sport Italia

.

“I was in a situation that was not good for me, as I have not played very many games this season. I spoke to my family, we wanted to come back to Italy.”

Cagliari was also interested in Strootman, but Genoa lead the race to sign him.

“Genoa were interested from the start and did everything to bring me here, so that made me choose them. I want to help the team and hope to bring some experience to the side.

“I watched their most recent game, they have some very good players. It’s a pity the fans can’t come to the stadium, but hopefully we’ll see them in the stands as soon as possible.”
