Things in A-league change every hour, says Perth Glory chief Pignata

As of now the only team which have managed to play all three of their A-League matches are the newcomers

. There have been other clubs who have completed two games but

have not been able to kick off their 2020-21 A-League campaign. According to their initial schedule, they were supposed to start the league with a match against

on January 16th but the match was pushed to January 20 due to COVID-19 restrictions. The club’s chief

Tony Pignata

is confident that his side will catch up to the competition by the end of February.

"Initially we knew we were going to have to be behind a few games,"

Pignata told

"There's room to play weekend, midweek, then weekend and catch up. We were hoping to have everything caught up by mid-Feb, maybe now end of Feb, but it really depends on what happens with state border closures.

"Close borders and teams can't come to us, we can't go to them ... we're just hoping things improve quickly."

If Brisbane’s lockdown would be extended beyond Monday there will be more pressure on the competition’s scheduling but Pignata says that suspending A-League is something that the officials are trying to avoid.

"Am I confident? No. I don't think you can be confident when things change every hour,

"The aim is not to have a break in the A-League but we're going to be dictated by each state and how they respond to each other state."
