Alex Morgan tests positive for Covid-19

The former Tottenham forward has announced that she tested positive for Covid-19 on her Twitter account, admitting that she was “recovering well”.

has revealed that she and her family are struggling with Covid-19. The US international, who has just come back to the US after playing for

Tottenham

for a short time, pronounced testing positive on Twitter. However, it wasn’t made clear whether she meant her husband and daughter or other family members.

Unfortunately, my family and I closed out 2020 learning that we had contracted Covid while in California over the holidays,

" Morgan said on Twitter. 

"

We are all in good spirits and recovering well. After our isolation is completed, I will follow US Soccer's return to play guidelines to ensure my body is fully recovered and I can join my team-mates back on the field soon. Be safe and happy new year."

The 31-year-old striker will most definitely be excluded from the training camp. Morgan is not the only USWNT player to not be included in the roster due to Covid-19 as Lindsey Horan has previously struggled with the diagnosis. Morgan had moved to Tottenham and only feature in five competitions for the club, finding the target twice as she sustained a knee injuring when playing in the Women’s Super League.

The 31-year-old mother has also been trying to get back to form after having just had her child born in May.

She had made the decision of returning back to action for the Tokyo Olympics last summer; however, she has received a postponement due to the pandemic hit.
