Liverpool fear losing €20m cause of Philippe Coutinho injury
Barcelona very much lost two points in the draw with Eibar this week in a title match that seems less and less realistic.
Ronald Koeman‘s stress was increased by the lack of
Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona’s Brazilian star who had just returned from injury.
He was replaced with knee distress for the diagnosis to show he’ll need surgery to heal a meniscus tear.
He got injured with groans at Anfield as well as Camp Nou, with Dr. Jose Gonzalez proving that
Coutinho
could be out for four to five months.
Not only does this impact Barcelona’s on-field choices, but it also endangers the completion of a variable held in the contract to draw Coutinho to Barca from
Liverpool
back in 2018.
The contract was for a fixed fee of €120m with €40m contingent on Coutinho's fulfillment of several variables.
One of them was
Coutinho
playing 100 games as a Barcelona player, which was worth €20m, and the Brazilian’s tally is currently at 90.
If he doesn't reach it this season, which is possible, the chances of him reaching it at all are not high. Barcelona are eager on moving him this coming summer.
