Watching Thiago play is exciting - Owen

The Spanish star has impressed Michael Owen with his good performance against Newcastle.

Liverpool

legend Michael Owen has praised Thiago Alcantara, saying he enjoys watching him play.

The Reds spent £20 million over the summer to move Thiago from Bayern Munich to Anfield. Expectations were high from Thiago at Anfield, but suffering from a coronavirus and injury prevented him from accompanying his team in the first half of the season. The 29-year-old midfielder was sidelined with an injury in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Everton and missed Liverpool's next 17 games.

But he eventually returned to the field and performed well in Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Newcastle. Now Michael Owen has praised the Spanish midfielder.

“It’s just the way he plays. It’s so exciting to watch. He is just different to so many players,"

former Liverpool striker said.

“He doesn’t need to say a word when he is on the pitch. His passes tell everything you need to know.

"When it’s coming to you, that ball is telling you there’s a man on or give it me back or run into the space.. he actually plays the ball with the type of spin, with the type of pace, it’s just unbelievable.”

The draw against Newcastle increased Liverpool's lead to three points, but United could also equalize with Liverpool by winning their game.
