“Madrid are capable of playing much faster” - Eibar boss Mendilibar
Eibar boss, Jose Luis Mendilibar has played with both Real Madrid and Barcelona in period of nine days.
has fallen to a 3-1 home loss with
Madrid
on 20 December but played better against
Barca
and held the hosts to a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou on Tuesday evening.
Mendilibar
has compared both teams, with Madrid more fit – having six triumph in a row across all competitions – while Barcelona stands sixth in the table.
Mendilibar
said:
“The difference between Barça and Madrid is that Madrid are capable of playing much faster than Barça.
“Madrid played us in the first 20 minutes at a tempo that we were not able to keep up with.”
It was the first time ever that
Eibar
had avoided loss at the Camp Nou, but they had chances against a Lionel Messi-less Barcelona, with the Argentine in the stands having a knee injury.
Eibar
currently stands 15th in the table.
