Lawrenson claims Manchester United can easily beat Leicester

While Michael Owen thinks this afternoon’s match will be a close tie, Lawrenson claims the Red Devils’ can easily bag an away victory.

Leicester City

spent the Christmas day in Premier League’s second spot after a 2-0 win over

Tottenham

last week, one point ahead of their today’s Premier League opponent,

Manchester United

, while the Red Devils secured a place in Carabao Cup’s semi-final with a 2-0 midweek win over

Everton

.

BBC’s pundit,

Mark Lawrenson

, predicts the Foxes will get nothing from the game due to United’s away form.

“Both of these sides are much better on the road than they are at home - United have won all six of their away league games this season,”

he wrote on his BBC column.

“Leicester, meanwhile, have got half as many points at the King Power Stadium as they have on their travels - nine at home, compared to 18 away.

“The Foxes' latest excellent away result came against Tottenham last weekend and, although there is a lot more to them than just one player, they are set up to get the best out of Jamie Vardy and they play to his strengths

“An in-form Vardy is hard for anyone to stop, but I look at United and I see a team that is just clicking into gear. I am backing them to make it seven away wins out of seven.”

Mark Lawrenson’s prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Manchester United

However, Former Golden Ball winner,

Michael Owen

anticipates a much closer game.

“It’s fair to say that Manchester United’s season has come alive in recent weeks. The Red Devils are up to 3rd and if they win their game in hand, they’ll go 2nd. It’s been quite the turnaround for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men and they should arrive here full of confidence, aiming for an 11th win in a row on the road in the Premier League,”

Owen told BetVictor.

“Leicester put their home defeat to Everton behind them with a fantastic away result at Tottenham, and for all they have been a bit inconsistent this season, they will be delighted with their 2nd place in the table just now.

“This one could be tight. I don’t think there is much between the sides and I reckon a draw could be the outcome with both sides scoring.”

Michael Owen’s prediction: Leicester 1-1 Manchester United
