Messi left out for the trip to Dynamo Kiev

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has not been in Ronald Koeman's final 19-man squad ahead of Barca's latest Champions League trip in Ukraine.

has been removed from Koeman's list and they join Gerard Pique on the sidelines, while the Spanish defender going to miss most of the season after suffering serious pain during Saturday's 1-0 Liga loss to Atletico Madrid.

"They need to take some rest and, after the good performances in the Champions League, it is a good time for them to rest," Koeman told.

The Argentine

has scored six goals in 11 appearances for

Barca

this season, five of those goals have come from the penalty spot.

The 33-year-old is no longer fully dedicated to the club's cause after asking for a transfer in the summer window, and he is thinking to leave Camp Nou in 2021 after being in the final eight months of his current contract.
