Simeone hails Joao Felix’s consistency after his brace

Atletico boss has spoken about Joao Felix’s form after his spectacular performance against Osasuna.

Unlike last season’s poor performances,

Joao Felix

has been one of the most crucial players for

Atletico

in their new season campaign. After scoring a brace against

Salzburg

in his team’s third round of the Champions league group stage, the Portuguese resumed his fine performances with another brace in Atletico’s 3-1 win over

Osasuna

on Saturday. Simeone’s side was 2-0 ahead until the 69th minute but then conceded a goal from Osasuna’s Ante Budimi, However the club’s new signing Lucas Torreira scored another one for Atletico to seal the game with a 3-1 win for Simeone’s side. In a post-match interview Diego Simeone has spoken about Joao Felix’s impact on the game as well as his team’s overall performance.

"He has looked good at the start of the season, He has had lots of important moments. What is making everyone talk about him like they are is the continuity and regularity that he is showing in his work.

"Last year, we spoke about things like transitioning with him and he is learning from that.

"We created chances by countering from the inside with great speed," he added. "There were more spaces and the team was creating different attacking possibilities.

"Shortly after the penalty came, we created some scoring situations. We made it 2-0 but they pulled one back and there was a lot of tension.

"Luckily, Lucas scored a great goal that allowed us to close a game that I think was very good."

Atletico Madrid will play against Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday before facing

Cadiz

in the LaLiga five days later.
