Abdullah Al-Mayouf Departs Al-Ittihad

Bold Decisions in Transfers and Farewells to Stars

The board of directors of Al-Ittihad Club in Jeddah has agreed to the transfer of goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf to one of the teams in the second division "Yellow League" during the current summer transfer window, reflecting a strategic shift in the team’s lineup.

According to "Al-Midan" newspaper, the management has given the green light for Al-Mayouf to sign with the Neom Club. Reports indicate that negotiations between the two parties have reached advanced stages, increasing the likelihood of finalizing the deal soon.

Abdullah Al-Mayouf joined Al-Ittihad last summer on a free transfer after a long and successful career with

Al-Hilal

Club, where he won numerous championships and titles. However, Al-Mayouf was notably absent from Al-Ittihad’s delegation to Spain, which departed last Friday to prepare for the new season, without any clarifications from the management.

Notably, Al-Mayouf's absence coincided with the absence of several players confirmed to be leaving the team, such as Egyptian Ahmed Hegazy, Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah, and Saleh Al-Amri. This reflects the management’s direction towards rejuvenating the team and strengthening its ranks with new elements.

In a related context, Al-Ittihad is currently seeking to sign a top-tier foreign goalkeeper to replace the Brazilian Marcelo Grohe, who was considered one of the team's key pillars in past seasons.

These steps reflect the new management’s vision of rebuilding the team and achieving a balance between local and foreign players, aiming to compete strongly in domestic and continental championships in the upcoming season.
