Patrick Vieira sacked by Crystal Palace after 12 games without a win

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been sacked as Crystal Palace manager after 18 months in charge.

Crystal Palace

announced on Friday that they have decided to part ways with manager Patrick Vieira.

Palace is in a relegation battle after an 11-game winless run in the

Premier League

. The Eagles are without a Premier League win in 2023 and have failed to win their last 12 games in all competitions.

After a 1-0 defeat against

Brighton

on Wednesday, Crystal Palace is in 12th place in the Premier League table, but is just three points clear of the bottom three.

Vieira’s side is the first team in the Premier League since 2003 that has failed to have a shot on target in three successive games.

Club chairman Steve Parish said:

"It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made.

"Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.

"That said, Patrick's impact since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he is held in the highest regard by myself, and all of his colleagues.”

Patrick Vieira replaced Roy Hodgson as Crystal Palace manager in the summer of 2021. He guided them to 12th finish in the Premier League last season.
