RB Leipzig managed to stop Man City at home with a well-organized performance, especially in the second half
The Citizens were stopped in their tracks as they visited
RB Leipzigin the Champions League round of last 16.
It was the same tale from the Citizens as they dropped points in a match that they were mostly dominant in. just like their clash against Nottingham Forest last weekend, Guardiola’s men started the match excellently but RB Leipzig managed to improve in the second half, and ultimately drew the game.
The first half an hour of the match saw an overwhelming possession of the ball by City. This resulted in Ryiad Mahrez scoring in the 27th minute on a Gundogan assist.
Citizen’s dominance over the game fizzled out in the second half. First they saw substitute Benjamin Henrichs missing two great chances but then World Cup star Josko Gvardiol managed to head it home in the 70th minute, equalizing the game.
RB Leipzig managed to nullify Manchester City pretty well after that. The Premier League champions were without their chief creator Kevin De Bruyne and the quality of chances created really highlighted his absence.
The
Citizensnow have to get the job done on home turf as RB Leipzig visits the Etihad Stadium on March 14 for the return leg of the fixture.
