"I was a bit surprised they were so passive", says Nagelsmann after Bayern's win against PSG

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann says he was surprised by Paris Saint-Germain's tactics in Tuesday's game.

Bayern Munich

 defeated

Paris Saint-Germain

in Paris on Tuesday thanks to Kingsley Coman's goals in the second half. The return leg of the Champions League last 16 round will be in Munich in three weeks' time.

Kylian Mbappe started the match on the bench, and PSG only had their first shot in the first half in stoppage time. Mbappe came onto the pitch in the second half and score two goals, but both of them were ruled out as offside.

After the game,

Julian Nagelsmann

admitted that he was surprised PSG players were very passive and did not want the ball.

"We played a really good game in the first 25 minutes, had very good control,"

he said.

"We can play even more direct towards the goal.

"You had the feeling that we were very surprised that we had the ball so much and Paris wanted to do relatively little.

"I knew they always defend deep, but the fact that they're so passive and so very deep and not really designed to win the ball surprised me a bit."

Coman who also scored the winning goal against PSG in the 2020 Champions League final explained why he did not celebrate his goal.

"I was born here in Paris. That's why I didn't cheer after my goal,"

the winger said.

”We're happy that we won."

Coman left the pitch in the second half due to injury.

"I have some calf problems,"

Coman said.

"I got a blow to the ankle, but I hope it's only a few days."
