Howe reveals Newcastle's concern about Christian Atsu
Following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, Hatayspor's vice-president confirmed that Christian Atsu is alive after being pulled from a collapsed building. However, the club is yet to provide any update on the forward's condition.
, who worked with the winger during his loan spell at Bournemouth, revealed his concern about the former Newcastle United winger,
Christian Atsu. He told his press conference: "
It's hugely worrying.
"I really, really enjoyed working with Christian, a great lad, great player. Our thoughts are with him and his family.
"We hope for some good news, we hope he's okay, but we're really concerned for him and his welfare this week.
"It has been difficult because there have been conflicting stories coming out about his whereabouts, so it's been very tough. I can't imagine how his family are feeling.
"But from the bottom of our hearts, we wish him well and hope there's a positive ending."
Atsu joined Chelsea in 2013 but never played for them. He played for
Newcastle Unitedbetween 2016 and 2021 and made 121 appearances. The 31-year-old winger joined the Turkish club Hatayspor in 2022.
