Manchester United 3-0 Nottingham Forest: United confirm their place in EFL final

Rashford, Fernandes and Weghorst were on the scoresheet as United beat Forest away from home.

Manchester United have set themselves up nicely to reach EFL Cup’s final after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals.

Rashford

was again on the scoreline as United went ahead then came Weghorst to score his first for the club as they finished the first half 2-0. The game was killed off by Fernandes who made it 3 for the Red Devils.

Despite the scoreline Steve Cooper’s men were the more dominant team at times in the first half but a 3-0 loss at home renders any comeback at Old Trafford practically impossible.

Manchester United

, who were licking their wounds after the 3-2 loss against Arsenal, went ahead early in the game to provide themselves with a cushion. They dropped off a bit after that before scoring a second one by Weghorst against the run of the play in the first half.

Forest even managed to score a goal in the first half by Sam Surridge on a brilliant counter attack but the goal was ruled offside after VAR check.

United can now comfortably face Nottingham Forest on February 1 in home ground. The Red Devils will take on Reading in the 4th round of FA Cup before that.
