Messi, Mbappe, and Benzema nominated for The Best FIFA Men's Player 2022 award

FIFA has revealed the candidates shortlisted for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022.

FIFA has announced a 14-player shortlist for The Best Men's Player award for 2022. The winners of this year’s awards will be revealed on 27 February 2023.

This year's award will be handed out based on performances from the start of the 2021/22 season up until the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.

Two expert panels selected the candidates for the players’, goalkeepers’, and coaches’ categories. Media representatives, national team coaches, national team captains, and fans can vote. Each group will have 25% of the overall vote. Fans can vote on the awards via the FIFA website. Voting closes on February 3, with the three finalists in each category to be announced later that month.

The men's coaching award will be contested by Carlo Ancelotti, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, France’s Didier Deschamps, Morocco’s Walid Regragui, and Lionel Scaloni.

Alisson Becker (Brazil / Liverpool FC), Yassine Bounou (Morocco / Sevilla FC), Thibaut Courtois (Belgium / Real Madrid CF), Ederson (Brazil / Manchester City FC), and Emiliano Martínez (Argentina / Aston Villa FC) also have been nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award.
