2-1 in La Liga on Saturday. Setien’s side is in fifth place in the table with 27 points after 16 matches.

In the post-match press conference, Setien said his team played very well and deserved to beat the European champions.

“It is true that we played a great game, and I appreciate Ancelotti’s words. I think we knew how to suffer when we had to suffer, and above all, we tried to play our game to seek victory.

“It’s true that they had chances out of nowhere, but I think we’ve had many more, so the victory is deserved.”

The former Barcelona manager talked about his tactics and claimed their press caused huge problems for Real Madrid.

“We started well, dominating the rival’s half and generating chances,”

Setien said.

“We suffered a few occasions but were positive in both directions.

“We focused on this aspect in this match because if you let Madrid have the ball it will create more problems for you.

“We have had predisposition and we were effective in our press. I’m happy for the match.”

Setien was also asked about the two handballs in the box which led to a penalty for each team.

“I have not seen either of the two incidents from where I am, but I guess that it is a complicated assessment for the referees. It is true that these plays generate many tensions and doubts.”
