Ancelotti accepts defeat as he admits that the penalty decision against them was correct

Real Madrid haven’t had the greatest of the starts to 2023 as they lost to Villarreal 2-1

Carlo Ancelotti won’t blame the referee or VAR for the penalty decision that went against them as he claims that “it was a penalty”. The

"We have not defended well,"

Ancelotti told reporters.

"We have made mistakes at the start and then getting back into the game is not easy. We have not started the year well, like last year."

Ancelotti went on to admit that he wasn't happy with the handball rule:

"We have to get used to this. When there is a hand in the area it's a penalty."

Despite Barcelona’s lack of form recently,

’s 2-1 loss to Villarreal gives Blaugrana the perfect chances to once again take a three-point lead against Real at the top of the table.
