"I'm not here to help Peter Lim sell footballers", says Valencia manager Gattuso

Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso says he has no problem with club owner Peter Lim and they have a good relationship.

Gattuso

was appointed as

Valencia

’s manager last summer on a year deal. Valencia is in tenth place in the table with 19 points after 14 matches.

In an interview with Diario AS, the former Milan star insisted that the has a good relationship with club owner Peter Lim.

“I honestly have a good relationship with Lim. The day he decided to give me the job was the third time I had spoken to him. I don't talk to him on the phone, he doesn't like it. I speak when I go to Singapore. And when I've been with him, he seemed like a person who listens to me, understands what I explain to him. I have a lot of respect. I would like him to sign important players, but he explains that it is not possible and I respect him.

"When I don't like something, I speak to the face. I'm not here to help Peter sell footballers. I am here to improve the team and to get an important position. Because if this doesn't happen I'm going home."

Gattuso also talked about their plans for the January transfer window.

“It is easy. I don't have to lie. We have to do one or two things if the market offers the possibility. But signing for signing I don't like. I spoke with him about this and other topics in Siangapore. He knows what the team needs. I'm quiet. We have a good squad and I am very happy with my players. I do not beg for signings, but they are sports issues that must be valued.”

Gattuso revealed that defender

Mouctar Diakhaby

has not responded to the club’s renewal offer and it is unlikely Valencia offers Toni Lato a new contract.

“Now the ball is in Diakhaby’s court, we don’t have it. Diakha and his agent have it.

“On the Lato theme we have to see if we continue in the same direction or if we change something. We have three players for the same position. We have to wait. It is very difficult for the club to propose a renewal to Toni. If keep just two [left-backs], it could change everything.”
