Marotta and Zhang are adamant Lukaku will help Inter this season

The striker missed the majority of the season and World Cup due to injury as Inter is currently 5th in the Serie A table. However, Inter President Steven Zhang and CEO Beppe Marotta are eager to turn things around in the second half of the season with a little help from Lukaku.

Speaking to

during their Christmas party, Inter CEO, Beppe Marotta insists

Inter

will fight Napoli for the Scudetto for the remainder of the season.

We have ambition and we want to be competitive on January 4, trying to obtain a great result with Napoli who have proved to be the best so far",

 said Marotta.

“We are happy for Lautaro and Correa, who was also part of the [Argentinean] team. Winning the World Cup is the best thing in the career of a footballer. We are confident that Lautaro will get a big boost to prove his qualities at San Siro,” he continued.

“Lukaku loves Inter and we’ve learned it by spending many days with him. We expect something important, he is dealing with a muscle issue, but now he has fully recovered and needs to get back in shape.

“Inter have won many trophies and hopefully, 2023 will bring something we missed in 2022.”

Inter’s president Steven Zhang added:

“It’s the first time after three years that people can gather together, and everyone’s excited, I wish Buon Natale to everyone, hopefully, we’ll bring joy.

“Winning is the objective of the club every season, we try to bring the titles, which is what we did in the past years, no doubts for the fans.

“I am happy for Lautaro, during the World Cup there are a lot of difficult moments, but he was able to fight and climb to the top of the world. He deserves it and we’ve been happy to see him grow step by step with Inter.

“Lukaku? It’s football and during games, there are ups and downs. We are confident and sure that he is working hard. He needs no pressure, we wait and we are sure he will give amazing performance in the second half of the season.”
