Brendan Aaronson demands credit for "Europe pioneering" USMNT

After an impressive start to life with Leeds United, the American winger is representing his country at his first World Cup as he hails the potential the USA squad has.

The USA

went ahead at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium when Timothy Weah scored in the 36th minute. Gareth Bale scored the equalizer for

Wales

as the two sides settled on a 1-1 draw.

Ahead of their second match against England,

Brendan Aaronson

believes the USMNT doesn't get the credit they deserve. He told

Sky Sports:

<em>

"I think a lot of American players have paved the way over here (in Europe) and haven't got enough credit for that.

"Over the years there's been a ton of guys that have played in the Premier League and even in Europe. They have really made a name for us over here.

"Now you see a lot of Americans getting chances and it's unbelievable to see the amount of Americans playing on weekends, the number has just gone up and it will continue to do that. Time has changed and the perception of American players has changed too. Look at players like Christian Pulisic, he's so dynamic on the ball and has the technique and that's growing in American players and can be seen in Europe."

After England, the USA will face

Iran

in their final group match on Tuesday.
