Pablo Machin becomes Elche’s third head coach of the season

After Francisco and Jorge Almiron, the former Sevilla man Pablo Machin became the third coach of the season for Elche after owner Christian Bragarnik ended his search for a manager before the World Cup.

Sitting at the bottom of the La Liga table with only four points,

Elche

sacked Jorge Almiron two games before the World Cup break as Sergio Mantecon and Alberto Gallego have both taken charge as caretaker managers during the season they started with Francisco as the head coach, who got sacked after eight games.

Pablo Machin

now takes the impossible task of saving Elche from relegation as they are glued to the table's bottom with only four points, seven points less than the team above. Machin’s last two jobs were in Saudi Arabia with Al Ain and Al Raed.

However, Machin tasted success with

Girona

as he masterminded their first promotion to La Liga before an unsuccessful spell at Sevilla.

Elche will take on Atletico Madrid on December 31 after the World Cup break, before La Liga clashes with Celta Vigo, Cadiz, and Osasuna as Machin is contracted to the club until the end of the season.
