Lothar Matthaus: Jamal Musiala can become Bayern's Messi

German football legend Lothar Matthaus believes Jamal Musiala can become a Bayern Munich legend.

The 19-year-old

Musiala

become the youngest-ever player to reach 100 matches in the Bundesliga for

Bayern Munich

against Schalke on Saturday. He provided two assists against Schalke.

Lothar Matthaus said if Musiala stays at Bayern for the rest of his career, he will become Bayern’s Messi.

He told Sky Sports:

“This is magic, this is Messi-like. This man must never leave Bayern. He enchants us all - he entertains us, it's like Hollywood. For me Musiala always has to play. His value? A quarter of a billion, I'd say. But he's not for sale anyway. He always has to play. His value is a quarter of a billion.

"You know what Lionel Messi was in Barcelona? Musiala has to be that at Bayern Munich as the fixed point of the team. He should stay with the club for as long as possible.”

Musiala left Chelsea’s academy at the age of 16 and joined Bayern Munich. He made his senior debut in 2020 and became the youngest player to play a match for Bayern in the Bundesliga, aged 17 years and 115 days.

Musiala who will play for

Germany

in the 2022 World Cup has scored 12 goals this season. The midfielder so far has scored 27 goals in 100 matches for Bayern.

Musiala grew up in England and represented them at the junior level but later decided to switch allegiance to Germany.
